Beat 1

The start of beat 1 is the furthest beat upstream of Cliff Cottage. It starts from the cattle bridge to where the North stream carrier joins the river Frome. Parking is found at the start of the beat. Please park off the track to allow access for other estate workers. This beat has a combination of deep pools and shallow gravel runs. Fishing is from the left hand bank although wading is often recommended. Standard 8ft-9ft rods will suit this beat.

Beat 1

Beat 2

Parking is alongside the river next to the hut. Although this is a double bank beat the left hand bank is mowed for easier fishing. Anglers do wade this beat but care must be taken due to the numerous deep pools found. Often a favoured beat for the Winter grayling anglers.

Beat 2

Beat 3

This beat will easily accommodate 2 rods with parking close to the river and hut. Please keep track clear for estate workers. Although again a double bank beat, fishing is advised from the right hand side until you reach the weir pool. The final section switches to the left hand bank . A long beat with inviting deep glides and bends. Weed can become a problem on the shallower sections. A heavy nymph fished into the weir pool is known to produce a salmon or two.

Beat 3

Beat 4

Another long beat suitable for a couple of rods, with shared parking for beat 3. It is double bank but anglers are advised to stick to the left hand bank. This is a favoured beat with anglers who like to wade, as access in and out of the river is easily found. A beat that will often throw out an early season salmon due to its numerous deep runs.

Beat 4 – Under the Trees

Beat 5

The longest beat on the estate. Parking is through the caravan park and down a narrow double hedged track. Fishing from the start is on the right hand side until you reach the ford where anglers are to swap to the left hand bank. This is a truly wild beat that can be a favoured for the salmon and sea trout anglers. It has also produced grayling up to 3lb and wild brown trout to 6lb. A great beat for the angler who wants to work for his prize

Beat 5

Beat 6

The furthest beat downstream of Cliff Cottage, with Wool Bridge marking the boundary of East Burton Estate. Fishing is only on the right hand bank. The River Win enters the Frome in the middle of this beat. Parking is shared with beat 5 or in the layby off the main road, at the start of the beat. Deep glides and bends lends itself to a popular salmon section.

Beat 6

Beat 7 (Eeel Stream)

A carrier of the River Frome but don’t let this put you off. Parking close to river. Double bank but fishing is most comfortable from the right hand bank. Some anglers like to wade but bank fishing is advertised. The Eel stream is named after the working Eel Hatches that are situated at the top of the beat. These are still in use to this day. This beat is often a good fall back when conditions make the other beats difficult due to it being sheltered. Fishes well in the mayfly, with much fun to be had on a 7ft rod . New Zealand style works well later on for the grayling.

Beat 7 – Eel Stream

Beat 8

A tiny narrow stream with fishing on the right hand bank. This is one of the boundary’s for the estate .Parking is shared with beats 3 and 4. An early season beat due to it weeding up. A fantastic beat where lots of fun can be had stalking the wild brown trout and grayling. A popular spot for salmon and sea trout to spawn during the winter.

Beat 8

Beat 9 (River Win)

A narrow stream that lends itself to the short rod enthusiasts who likes to chase the small wild brownies. Double bank.
